358 Commercial - Version 1
by Paul Mullin
(Sounds of a bus running at high speed.
Sounds of a raucous back section of a bus, people chatting, hollering, etc.
One of the voices in the general milieu of conversation comes to the forefront of sound.)
ENTREPRENEUR: I tell you what: the bitch can come to pay but she can’t come to stay. Hullo.
(These “hullos” are not greetings, but exclamations.
A cheap cell phone rings.)
Hold up, hold up. I gotta take this. It’s a client call, yo.
(Answering the phone:)
Payback incorporated. Payback speaking, may I help you?
I’m stressed but I’m strong. Hullo!
I say I’m stressed but I’m strong.... I’m stressed... but I’m strong. Feel me? I’m handling the situations.
Look, whatchyoo want, I’m trying to ride the bus here.
Well how many candy bars she want?
What? No you tell her I only sell candy bars by the fiddy. I don’t sell no candy bars by the piece. You gotta buy the fiddy pack or higher.
A’ight? A’ight. Peace.
(Fade back to general bus sounds.)
ANNOUNCER: This message brought to you by the back of the 358 Bus to Aurora Village. The 358! Seattle’s first choice in mobile danger-tainment.
(in speedy disclaimer voice)
All conversations guaranteed overheard on the back of the 358. Names and identities withheld to maintain fabulousness.
(back to gregarious announcer)
The back of the 358:
ENTREPRENEUR: We do more business before three AM than the rest of y’all do all day.
